22nd August 2019 - Brookfield Barn, East Sussex
With August being in full swing and the British weather being absolutely perfect it was an exciting drive as I headed towards the beautiful Brookfield Barn wedding venue in East Sussex for the wedding of Claire & Matt who had planned a stunning outdoor ceremony to tie the knot.
I arrived mid-morning and met Kristida (from Kristida Photography) in the car park before we headed off to get some venue shots & meet Claire and the girls getting ready. The joy of these sorts of venues where the Bride & Bridesmaids can get ready at the venue is that you get a lot more time to film or photograph as you’re not having to bounce between a couple of different places. The ‘getting ready’ rooms are also normally very well lit and are great for filming or photographing in and Brookfield Barns’ Bridal Preparation Suite was no different!
I met Claire and started filming her and her Bridesmaids getting their hair and make up done. This is always a lovely part of the day (providing no one is running late that is!) and always provides lots of laughs, smiles and lovely photo opportunities. I got some beautiful footage of all the girls laughing with each other and there was a good amount of room to move around and get plenty of different angles.
As Claire was preparing to put her dress on I got out of the way for a while and went to get some shots of Matt. The lake at Brookfield Barn looked stunning under the midday sun and it was a great place to get some Groom & Groomsmen shots. All the boys looked sharp in their suits and there was a feeling of quiet excitement in the air. After id got all the shots I needed and put an audio recorder on Matt (for the ceremony) I headed back up to meet Claire and get some shots of her in her dress.
I timed it right as I was filming Claire when her Father turned up to greet her and I was in the perfect position! It was such a lovely moment and is honestly one of the best moments i’ve ever recorded on my camera! You can see it in the short highlights film below.
I then made a dash for the ceremony so that I could be there before Claire turned up- the other joy of the whole day being at one venue is that it gives me plenty of time for set up and so I had been round earlier and prepped all the cameras so all I had to do was hit record and we were off. The ceremony area looked incredible with beautiful colourful flowers surrounding the awning and all the guests wearing very bright and colourful wedding outfits! Just what I like to see!
This East Sussex Wedding didn’t disappoint as Claire & Matt tied the knot overlooking the lake in an intimate & emotional ceremony and before I knew it we were straight into the confetti walk- easily one of my top 3 moments of any wedding. Its so great to capture on film with so much going on, so many smiling faces and such a happy couple!
The afternoon went to plan and I got so many great shots of all the guests enjoying themselves and celebrating with the new Mr & Mrs Wade. After letting the happy couple mingle amongst their wedding guests for a bit Kristida organised the family and group shot photographs before all the guests went off to be seated for the meal. Afterwards there were some very emotional speeches (including an incredibly funny speech by Matt’s grandad which caught me off guard!) and there was a good picture of laughter and tears.
The boiling hot sun was setting over the lovely grounds and so me and Kristida took Claire & Matt out for a sunset and golden hour photoshoot and I couldn’t have guessed in a million years how good it was going to turn out! As the sun slowly dipped the lighting was inch perfect and some of the shots I got were just incredible.
We didn’t keep Claire & Matt too long and we headed back because it was nearly time for the first dance & cake cutting- and what some dancing we were going to have! Everyone bought their A game and it’s some of the best dancing i’ve filmed so far. All Town Music were the entertainment for the night and they did an amazing job at getting the crowd going and being in and amongst the fun.
I thoroughly enjoyed every part of this beautiful Sussex wedding and I feel very lucky to have been a part of Claire & Matt’s special day. I am really happy with how their films turned out and you can view them below. I’ve also listed all the suppliers that worked so hard to make this day so great for Claire & Matt so make sure you check them out as well!
