I met Sian & Jane at their horse stables in Essex for a photoshoot doing what they love doing- looking after their horses and going for a nice Sunday ride!
It was a really interesting experience working with these animals and something I hadn’t tackled before. Turns out they can be quite mischievous! We got some great shots at the stables and local grounds before the girls stuck on the saddles and put on their helmets and I followed them as they went for a ride.
Lovely autumn colours gave a nice backdrop to a lot of the portraits and after a couple of hours we had some really great shots. Both Sian & Jane wanted some natural shots of them riding the horses- they both had photographs from shows and competitions but very rarely do they get photographed doing the day-to-day chores and chilled rides so it was really nice to be able to provide that for them.
I also had the bright idea to have them gallop towards me and pass me on either side- something that I regretted pretty much as soon as they started running! Two fully grown horses running at you when you are knelt down is pretty scary to say the least! But we got the shot and it looks great, so that’s all that matters!
Im looking forward to meeting the girls again in the Summer of 2019 and getting a different look and perspective to these shots. The horses will also look different as their coats won’t have been shaved, as you can see in the shots below.
