Your Wedding Videography Questions — Answered

Everything You’ve Been Wondering—In One Place

Whether you're just starting to explore wedding videography or you're narrowing down your shortlist, this comprehensive FAQ page is designed to help you make confident, informed decisions. Drawing from real client questions and years of professional experience, I’ve created clear, helpful answers to the topics couples ask about most—like filming style, coverage options, pricing, and how everything works on the day. Every response is written with care to make your planning journey smoother, and to help you quickly find the details that matter most to you.

What style of wedding videography do you specialise in?

I craft a cinematic, editorial, storytelling wedding films that blend beautifully composed visuals with natural emotion and authenticity. I focus on creating films that look and feel timeless, whilst collaborating with my clients to ensure we get visually striking results. This unique blend of editorial creativity and direction coupled with truly organic, natural and emotive authenticity is the backbone of my storytelling wedding films.

How many shooters do you provide?

For most larger weddings, I offer at least two videographers—ideal for capturing dual perspectives, gimbal shots, and uninterrupted coverage during key moments. For smaller or elopement-style events, a single videographer may be best. Additional team members are added for multi-day or complex events. I also have experience in running teams of multiple photo and video shooters, creating a cohesive and low-stress experience.

How do you capture sound, especially vows and speeches?

Audio quality is critical to my bespoke wedding films. I use multiple wireless lavalier mics—typically on the couple and officiant—as well as a variety of other professional sound recording devices. Backup audio recorders provide redundancy to ensure clear sound, even with wind or ambient noise. Combining these with high-quality on-camera microphones that capture the ambient sounds of the day allows me to create a dynamic sound design in my work that fully immerses you in the film.

Will your filming feel intrusive or disrupt our wedding day?

Not at all. My style is discreet and editorially-driven, blending into the background while maintaining a creative eye. My goal is to capture your day organically, telling the authentic story of who you are. I offer creative direction where appropriate, for example during couples portraits, and will offer expert opinions on locations and scenes that will create an aesthetically striking background to your emotive once-in-a-lifetime moments.

Can you work with different venue types and multi-day schedules?

Absolutely. I regularly film in a full range of venues—from modern barns to coastal cliffs or historic estates—and offer multi-day and multi-location support through additional team members. I adapt to timeline changes and varying setups with composure and precision.

Do you offer both photography and videography?

Yes. My photo + video packages deliver a seamless aesthetic and workflow. This unified approach simplifies logistics and ensures both teams work harmoniously, providing planners and couples with a streamlined vendor experience. This approach allows for a seamless flow throughout your day and ensures an aesthetic connection between your films and photographs.

How long until we receive our wedding film?

Typically, films are delivered within 8–12 weeks, though I aim for around 10 weeks on average. Every wedding commission is unique and I prioritise quality and narrative coherence, so I don’t rush the storytelling process. I regularly update my clients throughout the post-production process.

Where are you based, and do you travel?

I’m based in Kent and happily film across the UK and Europe, including destination weddings. For weddings outside of a reasonable travel time, a travel charge is added to allow me to travel the day before your wedding and to stay locally.

What’s included in your wedding videography packages?

Typical inclusions are:

Investment options are personalised, and you’ll receive a clear guide during your enquiry.

What makes wedding videography worth the investment?

Videography captures sound, movement, authenticity and emotion in a way that still photos cannot—whether it’s hearing your partner’s voice, the sounds of your guests cheering, or your vows. Couples that recognise the value of emotional storytelling, ensure that wedding videography is an investment you’ll treasure for a lifetime.

What backup plans do you have in place?

I implement full redundancy across equipment and workflow:

  • A minimum of two camera systems per shooter, with all camera having dual-recording features

  • Multiple audio recorders/lavalier backups

  • On-site power/charger systems

  • Multiple footage backups post-event

  • Full insurances, including Public Liability Insurance (£10million) and Public Indemnity Insurance

How do you collaborate with photographers?

I prioritise vendor harmony—introduction calls, timeline-fitting, shared movement, and mutual respect on the day. Many photographers, after we work together become good friends. My attitude is that we are both there to capture the day and produce the best results for you. If you are concerned about certain photography and videography styles clashing or would be interested in a cohesive experience under one umbrella, then my photo + film options could be something that suits you.

Can we influence the music and editing style?

Partially. I encourage couples to voice their music taste and preferred mood or vision, but ultimately creative direction lies with me as the videographer. All my music is sourced from fully licensed libraries, meaning the artists whose music I use get paid fairly for their work. Although I cannot use ‘mainstream’ music tracks, the music I use in your cinematic wedding films is selectively chosen to suit your vision and aesthetics for your day, and is used in conjunction with your narrative and story to create an immersive wedding film that is bespoke to you. Minor edits post-delivery are supported to ensure your film aligns with your vision.

How do we book you, and what’s required to secure our date?

To reserve a date, simply complete a short enquiry form via my Get In Touch page. After this you’ll have the opportunity to view my wedding brochure and we’ll book in a facetime call to meet and talk through the options, answering any questions you may have about wedding videography. After this i’ll guide you through the booking process.

I ask for a 25% non-refundable retainer to secure your date, with the remainder due 4 weeks before your wedding. In-person or Zoom consultation helps us align creatively and logistically early on .

Do you offer engagement or story sessions?

Yes! As a standalone service or add-on, my story sessions (cinematic pre-wedding shoots) create emotional depth and voiceover options for your final wedding film. If you love the storytelling aspect of my bespoke wedding films then adding a story session to your wedding film experience is absolutely the best way get the most out of it and tell your story in the most comprehensive way.

How far in advance should we book our wedding videographer?

It’s recommended to book 12–24 months in advance, especially for popular summer dates and destination weddings. My diary fills quickly as I only take on a limited number of weddings per year, so the earlier you enquire, the better your chances of securing your date.

Can we customise what’s included in our wedding film package?

Absolutely. Every couple and every wedding is different, which is why I offer bespoke options tailored to your plans. Whether it’s multi-day coverage, a pre-wedding story session, or a highlight edit, we’ll create a package that suits your celebration.

How long will our wedding film be?

Each wedding option includes a carefully edited cinematic highlight film, with options for extended edits, full ceremony coverage, and complete speeches. The length depends on your chosen coverage, but most highlight films are 4–8 minutes of cinematic storytelling.

What if the weather is bad on our wedding day?

Unpredictable weather doesn’t mean compromising your film. I adapt to changing conditions and use natural light creatively, ensuring your film still feels elegant, atmospheric, and reflective of your day.

Can we meet before the wedding?

Of course. I offer video consultations and, where possible, in-person meetings to get to know you, understand your vision, and talk through your timeline. This connection helps you feel relaxed on the day and ensures the final film reflects you.

Do you work with professional wedding planners?

Yes — I regularly collaborate with leading wedding planners across the UK and Europe. I understand the importance of seamless communication, flexibility, and discretion on the day. Whether it’s a multi-day celebration or a detailed timeline, I work as part of your planning team to ensure everything is captured to the highest standard while keeping the experience effortless for the couple.

Have you worked at luxury wedding venues before?

Absolutely. My portfolio includes weddings at some of the UK’s and Europe’s most prestigious venues — from private estates and historic castles to elegant coastal properties. I’m experienced in working in high-end settings where attention to detail, discreet presence, and elevated production value are key.

What is the typical budget for your wedding films?

Most of my couples invest £5,000 or more on their wedding videography experience. This reflects the level of creative planning, cinematic filming, and high-end editing involved in every film I produce. Bespoke packages are available for multi-day events, destination weddings, and photo + video coverage.

How will our wedding films be delivered?

Your films will be delivered in a beautifully curated, personalised and secure online gallery for easy viewing, downloading, and sharing.

Do we need to provide a meal for you on the day?

If you're able to, it’s always appreciated. Filming a wedding day often spans 10+ hours, and having a proper meal helps me stay focused and energised throughout. This also ensures that I am always on-site to film and advise you- if I have to go off-site for my meal there is a very real chance of missing vital moments.

I always eat discreetly during your seated dinner — never while anything important is happening — and I’ll be ready to capture any spontaneous moments the moment they arise.

Can we learn more about you before booking?

Of course. I encourage couples to explore my About page, where you can learn about my background — including my time in the military — and my creative approach to storytelling. I’m always happy to schedule a video call too, so you can get a sense of who I am and how I work before committing.

Do you film black-tie or formal weddings?

Yes — many of the weddings I film are black-tie affairs, held at stately homes, private estates, or luxury hotels. I understand the tone, styling, and expectations that come with these events, and I tailor both my presence and the final film to reflect that timeless sophistication.

Can we extend the hours of coverage on the day?

Absolutely. My options include full-day coverage as standard, but additional hours or late-night coverage can be added to suit your timeline. Whether you’re planning fireworks, an afterparty, or a multi-day event, I can ensure it’s all beautifully captured.

Will you help us plan our wedding timeline?

Yes — I work closely with couples and planners to craft timelines that flow naturally and allow for stunning visual storytelling. From golden hour portraits to quiet pre-ceremony moments, I’ll guide you through what works best on film without disrupting the rhythm of your day.

Do you offer drone footage?

Yes — drone coverage is included as standard in all my full-day wedding film options, weather and venue permissions permitting. Aerial footage adds a cinematic quality to your wedding film and beautifully showcases your venue and its surroundings.

Can you film our destination wedding?

Absolutely. I can travel across Europe and beyond for destination weddings. I handle all travel logistics myself, so the experience is seamless for you, and I always arrive early to scout the location and prepare for the best possible shots.

Can we choose the music for our wedding film?

I’ll work with you to understand your musical preferences and the tone you’re drawn to, but all final tracks are carefully licensed to ensure they’re legally usable. I select music that elevates your story and matches the emotional rhythm of your day, while still reflecting your unique style.

Do you offer teaser trailers or short films for social media?

Yes — many couples choose to include a teaser trailer or 1-minute highlight for sharing on Instagram or with family and friends soon after the wedding. These are available as add-ons and are edited quickly for early excitement while the full film is in production.

Do you work with LGBTQ+ couples?

Yes — I proudly work with all couples and believe every love story deserves to be told beautifully. Your wedding film will reflect who you are and celebrate your connection authentically and respectfully.

Do you film weddings from different religious or cultural backgrounds?

Yes — I respectfully film weddings across a wide range of religions, traditions, and cultures. While I specialise in editorial and cinematic storytelling, I always take time to understand the unique customs of each celebration. Whether it’s a Jewish ceremony under a chuppah, an Indian wedding with multi-day events, or a traditional church service, I work closely with couples (and planners, where relevant) to ensure every important moment and ritual is thoughtfully captured.

If you're planning a religious or multicultural wedding, I’m happy to discuss how I can best tailor my approach to honour your heritage and values.

With over seven years of experience behind the camera, I’ve had the honour of capturing wedding stories across the UK and Europe for couples who value timeless, authentic, and cinematic storytelling. My style blends authentic honesty with editorial elegance — quietly observing and artfully shaping your memories into something that feels deeply personal and enduring.

Before launching Luke Batchelor Productions, I served in the British Armed Forces. That military background taught me discipline, calm under pressure, and the ability to read a room intuitively — qualities that now guide me in high-pressure environments like wedding days. I’m meticulous in my preparation, discreet in my approach, and I always arrive with a clear plan, ensuring your day unfolds smoothly while I document it beautifully.

I work with couples from all walks of life and I bring warmth, care, and professionalism to every event. Whether you're planning a quiet countryside gathering or a multi-day wedding at a grand estate, I’m here to create a film that reflects your story — honestly, stylishly, and with real heart.

When I’m not filming, I’m mentoring the next generation of wedding filmmakers, exploring the coast with my family, or seeking out good coffee and even better light.

Whether you're at the start of planning or already deep into the details, I’d love to hear from you. Every wedding I film is a privilege — a chance to tell a story that will outlive the day itself.

If you're searching for someone who will approach your celebration with creativity, care, and absolute professionalism, I’d be honoured to join you.
