Set just outside Canterbury in the Kent countryside, Winters Barns gave their day a beautiful sense of intimacy. The gardens, the courtyard, historic barns and soft summer light all worked together to create a wedding that felt relaxed, personal and visually rich, with every part of the day flowing naturally from one moment into the next.

This was a wedding I captured through both photography and film, allowing the full story to be preserved in one cohesive visual style. Winters Barns is one of those Kent wedding venues that gives a wedding day both structure and softness. The restored barns bring character, warmth and texture, while the gardens and courtyard create space for guests to relax, move and enjoy the day without everything feeling too formal.

That balance is important in my work. Editorial wedding photography should elevate the way a wedding is seen, not remove personality from it. It should make use of light, shape, movement and setting, while still allowing the couple to feel comfortable and present.

At Winters Barns, that meant leaning into the venue’s textures and gardens, using stronger summer light when it worked, then softening the approach for quieter, more intimate portraits. Some images feel bright and joyful. Others feel more cinematic and still. The balck and white frames bring a timeless quality to the gallery, while the golden hour portraits add warmth and romance without feeling overly polished.
